1959 Goh Sin Huat was set up. Company operates as a provision store. 1965 Company ventured into small electrical appliances business. Started rental business by renting black white Television sets to expatriates. 1970 Change name to Goh Sin Huat Electrical Co, include bigger electrical appliances in its product line. Expanded on rental business, by renting appliances to developers. 1982 Goh Sin Huat Electrical Co turned Private Limited. To provide a wholesome offer of electrical appliances. We felt that it is the right time to include Air-conditioners into our product range. A after sales service dept was set up in conjunction. 1987 Significant increase in sales turnover, alongside Singapore economic growth, there were 22 staffs at that point of time. 1988 Appointed sole agent status for Philco electrical appliances. Philco is a renowned USA brand for electrical appliances. Subsidiary company GSH Marketing Pte Ltd was also set up in conjunction with the appointment. To carry out our responsibility effectively as a sole agent, we acquired a warehouse to accommodate the storage of stocks. Our showroom then undergone a drastic transformation after a major renovation 1989 Awarded sole distributorship for a range of Frigeria water coolers and dispensers imported from Italy and Taiwan. Since then, this range of products have become our major strength, where sales turnover exceeds the million-dollar mark. 1992 Added to our range of in-house products are the Eurotech electrical appliances imported from Italy. Awarded A project to supply & install more than 100 units of water coolers to the whole of Singapore Polytechnic campus. 1993 Yeo Hiap Seng Ltd, a reputed food & beverage company in Singapore approached us and offered to manufacture 19L bottle distilled water from their distillery for our distribution. It was a good opportunity since our bottle dispensers business is rising and this product is a necessity. Sales for our revenue raking products - Frigeria water coolers dispensers more than double after incorporation of strategic marketing plans and efforts. 1994 Sales volume of our Frigeria products passed the 1100 units mark. A commendable result considering the size of Singapore market. Awarded the CIDB certificate, which is a very important instrument that qualifies us to tender for government projects. 1995 To accommodate the repair and service job for our Frigeria products, a servicing workshop with a bigger area was set aside as a separate and more conducive workplace for the technicians. On separate account, there was a remarkable increase in government jobs and tenders awarded to us with our government certification status. At that point of time, we functioned with 33 staffs. 1996 Our entire office and showroom team officially moved to 492 Tanglin Halt Close on March 96 to achieve the all under one roof concept for greater efficiency and productivity. At our annual warehouse carnival, sales turnover of $1.5 million was achieved over the 5-day sales period. To stay ahead, we jumped at the opportunity of being one of the pioneers to introduce the ariable Refrigerant Volume aircon system. This is a sophisticated but effective aircon system catered for factories and big areas and have since increased in demand. 1997 We were upgraded to the highest grade for another government certification - for EPU (expenditures policy unit) as we then became eligible to tender for the Housing & Development Board's job for the supply and installation of electrical appliances for the transitional rental flats in bulk. After careful study of our company's background and financial position, we were awarded the above mentioned million dollar project. We noticed a surge in the aircon projects awarded to us with acquired experience. These include the condominiums and schools' aircon projects which we handled with perfection. 1998 This was the period of economic downturn and our business was in some ways affected. However, with our drive and determination, we managed to end our annual warehouse sales with a sizzling $1.3 million sales turnover over a five day period. Though slightly down from the peak years, it was an astonishing result to achieve. 1999 Though business for some sectors have recovered, the retailing business still lack lustrous. Many thanks to our pool of loyal customers who become more precious to us during the bad times. This was also the 3rd year that HDB has awarded us with the project mentioned earlier due to our incessant efforts to provide them with the best service at all times. On a separate issue, we were given a deadline of up to 31st Dec 2000 to move out from our current address as there were already development plans in store in the pipeline for this vicinity. As we have forecasted, demand for VRV aircon increased steadily over the years as more become aware of its usefulness. For that matter, Institute of Technical Education actually incorporated the study of VRV aircon system in its subject syllabus. To do that they engaged us to install some campuses with actual VRV aircon system so that they can use for teaching purposes. 2000 The management has decided to gear towards the ISO 9000 certification as we ushered the new millennium. At the same time. due to the compulsive request from JTC, the management is intensively looking for a suitable place to relocate. Once the right place is found, a fresh start awaits us. 2001 Bearing in mind the strong under one roof concept, we are now comfortably settled at No.1 Chang Charn Road. This place is ideal and inline with our concept. The new 6000sqft showroom is also able to house a wide variety of electrical appliances to the delight of our customers. 2002 Sales volume and demands for our Frigeria range of products have been increasing drastically since our initial launch in 1989. The popularity of the frigeria range of products has helps to boost our Twinkle Distilled drinking water business commendably. We have secured many accounts from school, MNC company and government agencies. 2003 In our attempt to serve our customers with greater satisfaction, the management has acquired a property at 12 Kung Chong Road. The total land area of 16,000sqft has enabled us to crystallize our objectives to serve our customers All-Under-One-Roof. 2004 With the new property acquisition in 2003, this complete infrastructure helped to enhance and expand the Rental business division of GSH. With the good relationship and strong support maintained with some real estates developers and agencies, GSH can now provide electrical appliances rental option for existing and potential tenants and clients who require short term financial scheme. There are new plans in the pipeline to expand our Water Supply business in 2005. 2005 We have recently upgraded our company’s web page for On-Line Shopping services. Any IT savvy customer can place order and make purchases of electrical appliances and premium distilled drinking water On-Line through the website. |
